How Social Media Data is Impacting your SEO Ranking

But in short the answer in December was: YES!!!
And now….
On Twitter: The volume of tweets, the content of tweets, and ‘Author authority’ is now being recognised as a ranking signal.

On Facebook: only the publicly accessible part of Facebook can only be spidered by search engines – so that means Fan Pages, Open Groups & whatever info on your Profile you allow to be viewed by the public.

The links on your Facebook Fanpages and number of interactions on that Fanpage is now being spidered by the search engines in order to give your business a ranking.

So if you want to think about how to implement Social Media Sites into your SEO Marketing plan then you need to think of publishing content links from your site onto a Fan Page, building authority as an expert in your market niche.

But…. the key is to spend time on encouraging interaction with those published link’s you’re posting or tweeting by fans and followers sharing it on their public areas such as websites, blogs, forum groups or Fan Pages.

There are many ways to set up automatic feeds to your Social Media Accounts and utilizing tools such as Google Alerts etc to add content and links to a Fan Page or Twitter Profile, but it will still require some manual work to monitor and encourage interactivity with fans and followers by networking with other Fan Pages, Groups and Twitter Lists.

Video Marketing is also a vital tool to your ranking and exposure on Google, especially since they own YouTube. Although visually we are seeing videos listed highly in Google it is going to be now just as important to be interactive with other YouTube Channels by ‘friending’ and creating lists of ‘favorite videos’ because you want it reciprocated and therefore have them sharing your video links also.
